Need more proof that bowling appeals to people all over the world? Head to the Himalayas. At the JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa in Uttarakhand where guests can swap mountain views for a few frames at their bowling alley.
A resort with something for everyone Perched in the hill station of Mussoorie, this five-star resort lets travellers relax and recharge amid the staggering beauty of the Himalayas. Guests enjoy luxury accommodations, therapeutic spa treatments and several dynamic restaurants. The resort also houses the area's largest entertainment centre, complete with gaming consoles, a billiards room and bowling lanes.
A clear strategic vision Since opening in 2014, the resort has aimed to be more than a scenic getaway. "We wanted to establish the property as a wholesome family resort with activities for everyone," said the General Manager. Bowling became a natural fit for that goal.
Building a bowling boutique from the ground up: CSML delivered the bowling boutique in The Den, the resort's children and family activity centre, working with Brunswick, the industry leader for more than 125 years. The installation included two Anvilane™ synthetic lanes, Lightworx® lighting, ball returns and pinsetters, everything needed to create a complete bowling experience in a compact space.
Results that speak for themselves: According to resort leadership, the impact has been clear. There is an increase in repeat guests and bowling has helped position the facility as a power-packed resort and family destination.
Brunswick's Director of International Markets John Prokopec, explains why: "Bowling is a great differentiator for resorts. Its mass appeal and social nature keep guests on the property longer, increase spending on F&B and drive repeat visits. It is also a cash business with no receivables and very low inventories, so once the initial investment is made, revenue flows to the bottom line."
The takeaway Whether your hotel is located at a Himalayan hill station or an urban city centre, bowling tends to bring people together. For resorts and hotels looking to stand out, extend stays and win repeat guests, it's an attraction with proven pull.
